摘要 <p>A reinforced synthetic resin pressure pipe suitable for underground use as a water main, is constructed by helically winding and fusing a substantially flat synthetic resin section which is reinforced with a U-shaped steel belt. A flat synthetic resin section (9) with oppositely chamfered edges, is pref. helically wound on a mandrel of desired diameter so that the chamfers overlap and may be heat fused to form an inner pipe. An U-shaped synthetic resin section (A) with oppositely stepped edges (5a,5b) is prepared by extrusion or like means to contain a reinforcing stainless steel U-section (6A) which extends across the top profile (2) and at least partly down the sides (3, 4). The section (A) is helically wound on the inner pipe so that the stepped sections (5a, 5b) overlap whereupon they are bonded by heat fusion to themselves and to the inner pipe. In other embodiments, the steel belt may be fully encapsulated in the synthetic resin U-section, the reinforcing section may be hoop-shaped, the reinforcement may also be present in the inner pipe section, and the inner pipe section may be integral with the reinforcement section.</p>
