The sliver drawing unit has a condensing section to condense the drawn sliver (1). It has at least one suction unit (4) to condense the sliver at a fiber bundling zone (F), with at least one sliver twisting system and a monitor (10) to register the suction air flow. The monitor has a swing flap (12), on a lateral pivot axis (15), which shifts its position on an interruption in the suction air flow, and the position change is registered by a sensor which opens/closes a signal circuit (18) to an evaluation unit (20) fitted with an alarm and/or a system stop facility.
