<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently desulfurize while removing dissolved oxygen and also, preventing the intrusion of the oxygen from the atmosphere, at a low cost when the desulfurizing treatment to molten iron or molten steel is performed. <P>SOLUTION: In the desulfurizing method for removing the sulfur in the molten iron or the molten steel by adding a desulfurizing agent 3 into the molten iron or the molten steel 1 held in a holding vessel 2, a plastic 4 or plastics-containing material 4 is added by laying on the holding vessel under keeping state so that the plastic 4 always exists in the holding vessel. Then, the plastic is gasified with the heat in the molten iron or the molten steel, and the desulfurization is performed while shutting off the atmosphere from the molten iron or the molten steel with the generated gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
