<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate distance data from a stereoscopic image at a higher speed than before to solve the problem that much processing time is required heretofore in correlational processing in a conventional stereoscopic image processor, because operational quantity necessary for correlational processing is enormous and there is a limit in the operational capacity of a device for correlational processing. <P>SOLUTION: A means for solving the problem is provided to enable high speed correlational processing by using only the position (coordinates in a direction having parallax) data of the feature point in an image pattern. Further, by introducing the collation processing with the position data of an image feature point for collation, the loss of the feature data contained in the pattern is suppressed to specify correct correlation. This stereoscopic image processor can realize higher speed processing than before, there is an effect for constituting the stereoscopic image processor by a simple circuit, and contribution for putting an on-vehicle monitor or the like to practical use is expected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
