PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in the conventional infrared space communication that since infrared rays are emitted in various directions, some of them are received at the other end of line, and the others are unavailable, light emission for that consumes an electric current wastefully. SOLUTION: In this toilet apparatus, space communication is performed between two devices by infrared rays. Both a sanitary washing device and a remote control device for the sanitary washing device are provided with two or more receiving means, a receiving means, and a means for controlling the transmitting means and the receiving means, and selecting one effective transmitting means in communication from two or more transmitting means to be controlled. The apparatus includes an infrared communication means for performing communication with only one transmitting means effective in communication between the sanitary washing device and the remote control device for the sanitary washing device.
