PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a lightweight iron-base sintered alloy having high rigidity and high wear resistance and also to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: In the iron-base sintered alloy with high rigidity and high wear resistance, iron and/or iron-base alloy is used as a matrix and B<SB>4</SB>C particles are dispersed in the matrix. The B<SB>4</SB>C particles are incorporated at a rate of 5 to 55 vol.%, and the particle size of the B<SB>4</SB>C particles is 1 to 50μm. The iron-base sintered alloy with high rigidity and high wear resistance can be manufactured by mixing iron powder and/or iron-base alloy powder with copper- coated B<SB>4</SB>C powder, compacting the resultant powder mixture into a prescribed shape and sintering the resultant green compact.
