Method for determining the shape of outlines (5, 6) of a machined ophthalmic lens (1) has the following steps: illumination of the optical face (2, 3) of the lens using a light beam (15) that generates a linear light spot (16) on the lens surface adjoining its outline; imaging of the light spot using an optical receiver (18); rotating of the lens around its optical axis (A); scanning of the outline (5, 6) using the light beam; simultaneous recording of successive positions of at least one singular point corresponding to a point illuminated on the outline; and deduction of the outline shape. The invention also relates to a corresponding device.
