PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an incubator having suppressed unevenness of temperature in the apparatus and keeping a specimen at the optimum temperature. SOLUTION: The incubator 1 is provided with plural bases 2a-2e to hold microplates 8 and heat the plates, a chamber 3 for holding the bases 2a-2e, an inner casing 41 and an outer casing 42 forming the outer case of the chamber 3, a channel 43 formed between the inner casing 41 and the outer casing 42, a fluid 5 filled in the channel 43, a fan 44 for circulating the fluid, and Peltier elements 6a, 6b to cool the fluid 5.
