PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a billet feeder which reliably prevents the falling of a billet during transportation, reliably feeds the billet to a forging press one by one and shortens cycle time to transport the billet. SOLUTION: The billet feeder comprises a positioning means 10 to position the billet B fed from a billet transport means A so that its axis turns to the vertical direction, and a transportation means 20 to transport the positioned billet B to the zero process PO of the forging press. The positioning means 10 comprises a pair of supporting members 11 and 11 and an opening and closing device to make approach and space the supporting members 11 and 11. A supporting hole 11h to position and hold the billet B fed from the billet transport means A is formed between the supporting members 11 and 11. Usually, the supporting members 11 and 11 are made to approach to each other, and are separated when the transportation means 20 transports the billet B to the zero process PO of the forging press.
