摘要 A mixture-compressing two-stroke internal combustion engine (1) is described, which for each cylinder has two inlet ports (9, 10), controlled by timing devices (11, 12), for feeding fresh gas and at least one exhaust port (21, 22) controlled by a valve (23, 24) for the discharge of combustion gases. In addition, a charging unit (17) for raising the inlet pressure level is provided on the fresh gas side. In order to achieve the most favourable residual gas scavenging from the cylinder working chamber without the risk of fuel passing into the exhaust, it is proposed that, of the two inlet ports (9, 10), the one (9) be provided for the feeding of a mixture enriched with the fuel to be burnt and the other (10) for feeding in pure air. It is proposed that the assigned timing devices (11, 12) then be designed in such a way that the inlet port (10) to which pure air is admitted be opened earlier on in the power stroke than the inlet port (9) to which mixture is admitted. As a result it is possible to assign a fuel feed device (26) to the mixture-carrying inlet port (9), which device commences the fuel feed even before opening of the inlet port. <IMAGE>
