PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow fiber membrane module having excellent turbidity resistance and low pressure loss therein and in which eccentric flow and fluidizing pressure loss in permeated water in a hollow part are suppressed and hence high separation efficiency and high boron removing capacity are imparted specifically in case of a reverse osmotic membrane. SOLUTION: The hollow fiber membrane module has hollow fiber membranes designed to intersect each other and both the ends of the hollow fiber membranes that are opened, and the ratio L/(ID<SP>2</SP>) of the effective length L of the hollow fiber membrane to the square value of the inner diameter ID thereof is determined within a specified range. Thus, the hollow fiber membrane module having both high turbidity resistance and high selective permeability to supply fluid, and high boron removing capacity specifically in the case of the reverse osmotic membrane, is obtained.
