PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a greening base material where non-composted or insufficiently composted woody chips are utilized so as to make plants satisfactorily germ and grow. SOLUTION: The greening base material contains at least the following materials (A) to (C): (A) main material comprising non-composted or insufficiently composted woody chips, (B) one or both of 3-20 vol.% of sewage sludge compost, and sewage/food sludge compost, (C) 25 vol.% of one kind or multiple kinds of subsidiary material(s) selected from the groups of zeolite, activated carbon, charcoal, pearlite, bentonite and vermiculite.
