PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print with a resolution fit for each printing sheet so as to solve the trouble of banding in an inkjet printer although it can print to various printing sheets. SOLUTION: The inkjet printer is provided with a printing resolution setting input means for setting an optimum resolution for each printing sheet. The inkjet printer receives printing data of the optimum resolution generated by a host computer 101 from the host computer 101, and writes the data into a band memory 107. Since a specific designated resolution brings about rest nozzles, data for standby nozzles is generated, and non-discharge nozzle data is inserted at a standby nozzle data insertion block 201, when a printing head 106 discharges ink to carry out printing. The printing result is executed with the optimum resolution to the printing sheet and has accordingly a high quality with the problem of banding solved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
