<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output the result of detection which matches the anatomical structure of the mamma in such a manner as to coincide with the sense of shadow readers such as physicians. <P>SOLUTION: A detection area setting means 10 detects minute calcination shadows in an image based on radiation image data P of the mammas and the minute calcination shadows detected are clustered to set cluster areas. Rectangular areas circumscribing the cluster areas area set as detection areas and a discrimination means 20 extracts mammary glands in the images and compares the extended direction of the mammary glands and the extended direction of the detection areas to judge whether the detection areas are correct or not. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
