PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a pipe line to be welded by using a split coil easily mountable on the pipeline and efficiently performing a demagnetizing operation without spending time and labor. SOLUTION: A weld groove 9 is set by abutting the end to be welded of a magnetized pipe line 6 already installed and that of a new pipe line 7 unmagnetized; a freely attachable/detachable split coil 3 is mounted at the inner position on the welding end side of the already magnetized pipe line 6, with the two power source-connecting lead lines 16 of the split coil 3 connected to a DC power source 1; and, while the magnetic flux density of the weld groove 9 is measured by a Gauss meter 4, a current regulator 2 is operated which is for adjusting the DC current of the DC power source 1, so that the adjusted DC current is caused to continuously flow to the split coil 3 and that the magnetic flux density of the weld groove 9 is set at a weldable magnetic flux density.
