PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating stopping apparatus for paint to a wire material, for performing the so-called step replacing work for performing the alteration of the wire material or the replacement of a coating die in a short time without lowering the quality of a product and work efficiency. SOLUTION: The coating stopping apparatus is equipped with a paint tank part 3 for temporarily storing the paint 1 supplied to the wire material W and paint stop appliances 12 provided to the paint tank part 3 and having slits 20 for allowing the paint 1 to flow out to coat the surface of the wire material W with the paint 1 and fitted to the slits 20 to surround the wire material W from at least three directions to stop the outflow of the paint 1 from the slits 20.
