PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an excellent anticancer agent.

SOLUTION: This invention provides an oligonucleotide comprising a base sequence equal or substantially equal to a base sequence inducing apoptosis to cancer cells and provides a preventive and/or therapeutic agent for cancer which contains the oligonucleotide. A method for screening a compound or a salt thereof promoting or inhibiting a transcription-regulating activity of a DNA having a base sequence equal or substantially equal to a specific base sequence is provided. The anti-sense oligonucleotide is useful as an excellent anticancer agent.
