<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the recording time while quality degradation and contamination of recording images by rubbing of a recording medium are prevented when recording is carried out to a plurality of pages including a part to be recorded with a high duty. <P>SOLUTION: In recording by discharging ink to the sheet-shaped recording medium, when recording data of the plurality of pages is generated, it is detected whether or not each page other than the last page has a high duty (3) to be recorded with a recording duty higher than a predetermined recording duty. When it is detected that the page has the high duty, a recording direction of the page is changed to be opposite in an up-down direction in accordance with a position of the high duty.
