PURPOSE:To obtain a nonlinear optical material having high nonlinear optical effect having also high mechanical strength and optical intensity when it is used in the form of film by incorporating a specified compd. into a polyoxyalkylene matrix. CONSTITUTION:A p-disubstituted benzene dielectric compd. expressed by the formula I is incorporated into a polyoxyalkylene matrix as a nonlinear optical material suitable as a material for a thin film-shaped or fibrous waveguide. In the formula I, A is an electron donative substituent, B is an electron attractive substituent. By this constitution, satisfactory flexibility and mechanical strength are obtd. permitting its use in thin film shape or fibrous shape, resulting also high degree of orientation. So superior nonlinear optical effect is exhibited. |
