PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a contaminated soil decontamination method and a regeneration method by which contaminated soil can be decontaminated economically in a short period of time. SOLUTION: This contaminated soil decontaminating method is used for decontaminating the soil contaminated with lead or a lead compound. This method comprises the first step to sort the contaminated soil to obtain the soil to be decontaminated, the second step to add a chlorine compound to the soil to be decontaminated and heat the chlorine compound-added soil to produce PbCl<SB>2</SB>, the third step to recover the produced PbCl<SB>2</SB>. This regenerating method comprises a step to perform this decontaminating method at a job site and a step to bury the soil regenerated by removing PbCl<SB>2</SB>at the job site instead of the contaminated soil.
