PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for filter particles which enables the keeping of a large filter flow rate over a long time and short-time washing and has a certain complicated shape. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for filter particles is equipped with a step for preparing a foamed plastic sheet material floating toward a liquid surface, a step for forming longitudinal slits to the sheet material by a longitudinal cutting mold to which almost saw tooth-shaped longitudinal cutting blades, wherein a triangular longitudinal cutting blade unit shape is continuously repeated, are repeatedly arranged at a definite interval and a step for arranging a lateral cutting mold to which almost saw tooth-shaped lateral cutting blades, wherein a triangular lateral cutting blade unit shape is continuously repeated, are repeatedly arranged at a definite interval so as to cross the longitudinal cutting mold at a right angle to form lateral slits to the sheet material. The filter particles being plate-shaped particles, which are based on an almost square shape on a plan view and notched at the peripheral edge parts thereof to have unevenness at the peripheral edge parts thereof, are formed from the sheet material.
