PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a field of view without taking time and efforts for the reinstallation and replacement of coils. SOLUTION: An RF coil 100 for MRI is equipped with a rectangular element 15, a parallel resonant circuit (6, 5, 7) provided through elements 14a, 14b connecting a middle part of the upper side and a middle part of the lower side of the rectangle and the parts of the element 15 which are not located between the elements 14a, 14b, and a parallel resonant circuit (3, 2, 4) provided through the elements 14a, 14b. A bias voltage to make the parallel resonant circuit provided through the elements 14a, 14b in a resonant state is applied, and current i14 is cut off when a large field of view is selected. A bias voltage to make the parallel resonant circuit provided through the element 15 in a resonant state is applied, and current i15 is cut off when a small field of view is selected. As a result, the work to separate the uses of a plurality of coils of different fields of view is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
