PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable of the operation of an apparatus body from outside even if an operator does not stay around it. SOLUTION: A self-traveling apparatus has the apparatus body 1, which includes a travel control means 3 for controlling a travel means, a first transmitting and receiving portion 8 for transmitting and receiving signals from outside, and a battery 2 serving as a power source for supplying electrical power to the whole of the apparatus body, and a charging stand 9, which is separated from the apparatus body 1 and includes a charge means 10 for electrically charging the battery 2 and a second transmitting and receiving portion 11 for transmitting and receiving the signals from outside. The second transmitting and receiving portion 11 of the charging stand 9 receives the signals from outside to start the operation of the apparatus body 1, and therefore the apparatus body can be operated from outside even without the operator around it.
