METHOD FOR CORRECTING RECORDING POSITIONAL SHIFT OF BIDIRECTIONAL RECORDING PRINTER, BIDIRECTIONAL RECORDING PRINTER, AND PROGRAM FOR CORRECTING RECORDING POSITIONAL SHIFT OF BIDIRECTIONAL RECORDING PRINTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust ink ejection timing of a bidirectional recording printer with high accuracy without imposing a heavy load on a user in time and cost.

SOLUTION: A rectangular pattern TP1 is recorded by ejecting ink only when a recording head moves leftward (step S1). The rectangular pattern TP1 is detected and the recording position is operated in the main scanning direction X (step S2). A recording sheet P is carried in the subscanning direction Y (step S4), and a rectangular pattern TP2 is recorded at the same position as the rectangular pattern TP1 in the main scanning direction X by ejecting ink only when the recording head moves rightward (step S5). The rectangular pattern TP2 is detected and the recording position is operated in the main scanning direction X (step S6). Shift of recording position between the rectangular pattern TP1 and the rectangular pattern TP2 is calculated (step S8) and positional shift of recording in a 'bidirectional recording means' is corrected based on the shift of recording position thus calculated (step S9).
