PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a working tool and a machine tool provided with the working tool capable of preventing heat expansion of a main shaft by preventing cutting heat generated by the working tool in cutting from being transferred to the main shaft. SOLUTION: This invented machine tool 1 is provided with the main shaft 10 and the working tool 14 installed on the main shaft 10. Main shaft cooling medium passages 17a, 17b in which cooling air (cooling medium) flows are formed. A tool cooling medium passage 16 connecting the main shaft cooling medium passages 17a, 17b via an air guide passage 18 of a key 9a is formed on the working tool. The tool cooling medium passage 16 extends toward a tip 30 of a cutting head 4 of the working tool 14a and cooling air flowing in the tool cooling medium passage 16 is blown on the tip 30 of the cutting head 4.
