PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for dividing a cell containing a plastic sheet as a major constituent member is such a way as not generating cracking, chipping, or inter-layer exfoliation and provide a manufacturing method for display elements using this method. SOLUTION: The processing method for dividing the cell works with a supporting means 3 whereby a laminated base board using as a constituent member a sheet chiefly containing plastics to be turned into cells after cutting is supported on a punching die with a single edged blade 1 embedded and which can protrude the single edged blade by decreasing the height by a press at the time of cutting, and after placing the laminated base board on the supporting means, cell dividing is conducted in such a condition that the whole base board is held down uniformly and pressed by an upper and a lower movable plate through a cushion member 5 which protects the cutter tip at the time of cutting, wherein the clearance b between the supporting member and the single edged blade is between 0.003-0.6 mm.
