PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface friction joining device for generating a plastic flow of a material and simply joining plates with each other by allowing a part in the vicinity of a joining surface to be subjected to the compressive friction by a surface of a tool rotating at high speed. SOLUTION: A rotary pressure drive unit which is rotated around a predetermined axis of rotation, and applies the pressure in the direction of the axis of rotation, and a friction tool 20 having a friction surface 23 of a circular bottom surface and fitted so that the axis orthogonal to the friction surface and passing through the center of the friction surface is agreed with the axis of the rotary pressure drive unit are included. The plastic flow is generated in the vicinity of a friction part of a work by tightly fitting the friction surface to the surface of the adjacent work for the pressure friction to join the work.
