PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the rod structure of a folding umbrella which makes the rod parts of the folding umbrella extensible by four stages or more by making a spring piece and an engaging member to be engaged between rod parts when extending the rod parts short. SOLUTION: In rod part structure of the folding umbrella where the rod structure of the folding umbrella is nested by four stages or more, a supporting part piece 53 is fitted to the inner lower side of a hollow rod part 20 of the highest stage; a long hole 52 extending in an axial direction is formed on the side surface of this hollow rod part, a narrow-width slit 54 opening at a side face position aligned with the long hole 52 is bored in an axial direction at the supporting part piece 53, a spring piece 51 the upper side of which is formed as an enlarged head part is inserted into the slit 54, this head part is made to be retractable from the opening and the long hole 52, and a means 57 for energizing the head part constantly outward is provided between the spring piece 51 and the supporting part piece 53.
