A projection type liquid crystal display unit includes (<HIL><PDAT>a</ITALIC><PDAT>) a first frame (<HIL><PDAT>13</BOLD><PDAT>) having a first surface (<HIL><PDAT>15</BOLD><PDAT>) formed with a first opening (<HIL><PDAT>13</BOLD><HIL><PDAT>a</ITALIC><PDAT>), (<HIL><PDAT>b</ITALIC><PDAT>) a second frame (<HIL><PDAT>12</BOLD><PDAT>) having a second surface formed with a second opening (<HIL><PDAT>12</BOLD><HIL><PDAT>a</ITALIC><PDAT>), and (<HIL><PDAT>c</ITALIC><PDAT>) a liquid crystal display panel (<HIL><PDAT>11</BOLD><PDAT>) sandwiched between the first and second frames (<HIL><PDAT>13, 12</BOLD><PDAT>) such that an incident light passes through the second opening (<HIL><PDAT>12</BOLD><HIL><PDAT>a</ITALIC><PDAT>), the liquid crystal display panel (<HIL><PDAT>11</BOLD><PDAT>) and the first opening (<HIL><PDAT>13</BOLD><HIL><PDAT>a</ITALIC><PDAT>) in this order. The first and second frames (<HIL><PDAT>13, 12</BOLD><PDAT>) are both composed of resin, and the first surface (<HIL><PDAT>15</BOLD><PDAT>) of the first frame (<HIL><PDAT>13</BOLD><PDAT>) is roughened.</PTEXT>
