NUCLEOTIDE SEQUENCES OF GALACTINOL SYNTHASE FROM ZUCCHINI AND SOYBEAN

摘要

There is provided isolated nucleic acid fragments that encode soybean seed a nd zucchini leaf galactinol synthase. Chimeric genes including those fragments and suitable regulatory genes are also provided that are capable of transforming plants to pro- duce galactinol synthase at levels higher or lower than that found in the target plant. Transformed plants and seeds are also pro- vided for. Methods for varying the content of D-galactose-containing oligosaccharides of sucrose in plants are also provided.
