<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide Bincho-charcoal capable of holding the effects over a long period of time without maintenance work and hardly generating clogging as time elapses. <P>SOLUTION: A coating layer 22 made of a photocatalyst is formed on the surface 20a of the Bincho-charcoal 20. The photocatalyst decomposes water and oxygen in air with the energy of near ultraviolet rays of 320-400 nm included in the solar light or the light of a lamp and produces active oxygen in a part where the photocatalyst is disposed. The photocatalyst has the property to decompose organic substances such as a harmful chemical substance, foul- smelling substance, a substance causing pollution into carbon dioxide and water by the oxidation/reduction action. As the coating layer 22 made of the photocatalyst is disposed on the surface 20a of the Bincho-charcoal 20, the harmful substance, foul-smelling substance, and pollution adsorbed in the Bincho- charcoal 20 can be decomposed, and therefore, the adsorbing effect, deodorizing effect, and humidity adjusting effect of the Bincho-charcoal can be held for a long period of time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
