Dispensers of volatile liquids have a liquid reservoir (<HIL><PDAT>10<PDAT>) feeding a downwardly extending dispersal screen (<HIL><PDAT>2<PDAT>) formed by spaced threads or groups of threads (<HIL><PDAT>20<PDAT>) down which the liquid (L) flows as it is vaporised the screen having a large thread; void ratio whereby a relatively small quantity of liquid is exposed, so that the liquid on the screen is constantly replaced. In other dispensers utilizing a downwardly extending dispersal screen (<HIL><PDAT>30; 42; 82; 110; 120; 160<PDAT>). a capillary wick (<HIL><PDAT>38; 52; 94; 140; 172<PDAT>) leads the liquid upwards from a reservoir (<HIL><PDAT>34; 50; 92; 136; 166<PDAT>) to produce a syphon effect. The amount of liquid on the screen (<HIL><PDAT>160<PDAT>) may be limited by an arrangement (<HIL><PDAT>184; 186<PDAT>) for interrupting the syphon flow. The liquid flow to a dispenser screen (<HIL><PDAT>42; 82; 110<PDAT>) may also be regulated by taking liquid from a supply container (<HIL><PDAT>48; 90; 108<PDAT>) into a reservoir chamber (<HIL><PDAT>50; 92; 136<PDAT>) having a constant liquid level, whereby the rate of liquid flow is independent of the level in the supply container. Dispensers according to the invention may have any one or more of these features.</PTEXT>
