PURPOSE: A circuit for compensating distortion of a display device is provided to improve the quality of a monitor by compensating distortion of up-and-down linearity of the monitor. CONSTITUTION: A cathode ray tube(21) displays a video signal. A video signal processor separates a brightness signal and a color difference signal from the external video signal. A vertical deflecting unit(22) synchronizes horizontal and vertical synchronous signals for outputting a vertical deflecting signal to deflect an electronic beam to a vertical direction of the cathode ray tube. A feed back unit(23) feeds back the vertical deflecting signal from the cathode ray tube for controlling only the vertical size for displaying a picture having a certain size. A control button unit(24) includes a plurality of control buttons to reflect a picture control intent of a user. A microcomputer(25) receives control signals of the control button unit for outputting a local control signal. A compensating waveform unit(26) outputs a local distortion compensating signal to the vertical deflecting unit according to the local control signal.
