PURPOSE: A method for remotely prearranging recording of a satellite set top box is provided to prearrange recording by using a telephone, thereby realizing prearranged recording while a user is out. CONSTITUTION: It is confirmed whether a telephone number of a caller is a number designated by a user. It is confirmed whether a frequency of ring reaches a frequency designated by the user. Voice messages to obtain information required for recording prearrangement are provided to a telephone of the user through a modem. Telephone key input values of the user related to each message are received. A satellite set top box operates in a standby mode before a prearranged time, and releases the standby mode when it is the prearranged time. It is judged whether a channel selected by the user is a pay per view channel. If so, a pay per view channel access system is driven to access the pay per view channel. The recording is executed.
