PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the high heat exchange performance by unifying the vapor- liquid distribution between passes as much as possible in a plate type heat exchanger. SOLUTION: In the plate type heat exchanger for forming a plurality of passes in the layer direction by laminating a plurality of heat transfer plates 3 with first flow passages 4 and second flow passages 5 in an alternately forming manner, and distributing a first medium R<SB>1</SB>to be phase-changed between the vapor and liquid phases in the rising direction in passes 12a-12l on the first flow passage 4 side, and a divider 21 is provided on the upstream side of an inlet side merging part 6 of the passes 12a-12l. In this configuration, even when the first medium R<SB>1</SB>flows into the plate type heat exchanger in the vapor-liquid phase state, the first medium R<SB>1</SB>is divided to keep similar vapor-liquid state before the first medium flows into the inlet side merging part 6, and flows in this divided state. The vapor-liquid distribution in each of the passes 12a-12l is unified as much as possible, and the heat exchange performance of the entire plate type heat exchanger is improved.
