PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a water heater that a temporary hot-water supply temperature when a hot-water supply temperature sensor is failed is largely changed because of the change of the water supply temperature by season, which impairs the usability. SOLUTION: This water heater comprising a mixing valve 12 for mixing the hot water from a hot water channel 42 and the water from a water channel 43 by a mixing valve element 45 driven by a driving device 46, and supplying the mixed hot water of a set temperature, further comprises a mixing part 41 for accommodating the mixing valve element 45, a mixing channel 48 where the mixed hot water from the mixing part 41 flows, and the hot-water supply temperature sensor 14 detecting a temperature of the mixed hot water on the way of the mixing channel 49, and controlling the driving device 46, the mixing valve element 45 is located on a predetermined standard mixing position in the failure of the hot-water supply temperature sensor 14, and further a plurality of mixing positions are determined besides the standard mixing position, so that the positions are properly selected, and the hot-water supply of high usability can be performed in the event of failure.
