PURPOSE: A spam mail interception method is provided to prevent spam mails, transmitted indiscriminately, from coming to a mail box based on a deletion rate of received mails. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. In a case that there exists an e-mail to be transmitted, a spam mail interception manager(102) parses the body of the e-mail and attached files, and applies a filtering rule to the parsed result for checking whether the e-mail is a spam mail. If the e-mail is a spam mail, the e-mail gets deleted or stored at an advertisement mail box(108), a spam alarm message is transmitted to a mail sender by using a reverse-tracking program(110). Otherwise, the e-mail is transmitted to a mail receiver set by the mail sender. In a case that there exists an e-mail to be received, a spam mail interception agent(122) parses the body of the e-mail and attached files, and applies a filtering rule to the parsed result for checking whether the e-mail is a spam mail. Then, if the e-mail is a spam mail, the mail is filtered and recorded at a deletion box, and the deletion record is transmitted to the spam mail interception manager(102). The deletion rate is calculated in real time. If the deletion rate arrives at a certain level, the manager searches for the corresponding mail in all the mail receiving box of other members, deletes the searched mails, and records the information on the searched mails at the filtering rule for preliminarily intercepting the spam mail.
