PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a composite resin material into which a laminar clay mineral can homogeneously be dispersed in a fine state without using any dispersion aid for a clay even when a resin having low affinity to a laminar clay mineral is used. SOLUTION: The method comprises kneading a resin with a laminar clay mineral upon substituting at least a part of the interlaminar ions of the laminar clay mineral by a proton or a hydroxyl ion.
