PURPOSE: A multimedia messaging service system and method is provided to convert simple messages, written at a mobile terminal, into multimedia messages rich with various contents, and to transmit the multimedia messages over a wireless internet. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a messaging service system(30), a member management database(40), an intelligent mail conversion system(50), a customer management data warehouse(60), a billing system(70), a multimedia contents management database(80) and a multimedia contents providing system(90). The messaging service system(30) controls and manages the multimedia messaging service in transmitting mails from a sender to a receiver. The member management database(40) manages the data on service members. The intelligent mail conversion system(50) converts simple mails into multimedia mails. The customer management data warehouse(60) stores data related to customers. The billing system(70) manages a service charge for each customer. The multimedia contents management database(80) manages the multimedia contents offered by the multimedia contents providing system(90).
