<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an MPEG-2 stream by encoding moving image and audio data and to perform special reproduction at all positions in the MPEG-2 stream under production when reproducing the MPEG-2 stream under production simultaneously with the production of the MPEG-2 stream. <P>SOLUTION: The special reproduction of an MPEG-2 stream 15 is performed by using an index 16 which is produced simultaneously with the production of the MPEG-2 stream 15 and presents the relationship of a frame on the MPEG-2 stream and a time.
