<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specific methods and device compositions for detecting finger movements from fingerprint images. <P>SOLUTION: A finger area and its barycentric position of the present sensor image is calculated, and a barycentric position area is divided into small blocks. The image area which matches a fingerprint image of the last sensor image of the fingerprint area is searched by scanning every small block of the present sensor image. Vector values to the selected is calculated by the deviation value between a site of each small block of the current sensor image and that of each corresponding image area of the last sensor image. The vector value which best matches with the fingerprint image of the current sensor image and with that of the last sensor image is selected among the selected vector values of small blocks, and is determined as a detected vector value. The detected vector value is modified for eliminating possible errors in detection caused by delicate moves of fingers, and a modified vector value for controlling pointer shifts is calculated in the end. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
