<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission line capable of high-speed transmission by providing a non-zero dispersion shift optical fiber which has a wavelength dispersion characteristic enabling transmission over an S band, a C band, and an L band and also has nearly the same RDS with a dispersion compensating optical fiber for a normal single-mode optical fiber from the C band to the L band. <P>SOLUTION: The optical fiber is so manufactured that: a wavelength dispersion value in a 1,460 nm wavelength band is≥+1.0 ps/nm/km; a dispersion slope in a 1,550 nm wavelength band is≤0.04 ps/nm<SP>2</SP>/km; a cutoff wavelength is≤1,450 nm; and RDS(λ) as the value obtained by dividing the dispersion slope by wavelength dispersion is less than or equal to -1.67×10<SP>-5</SP>λ+0.0300 and equal to or larger than -1.67×10<SP>-5</SP>λ+0.0285. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
