METHOD FOR LAYING AND RECOVERING CABLE

PURPOSE:To easily lay and recover a cable by interposing a lubricant to lower friction resistance at the time of passing gas in a pipe and forcibly feeding the cable in the downstream direction in the pipe, thereby laying and recovering the cable. CONSTITUTION:The essential requirement to maintain a high transporting speed of the cable 11 is to decrease the friction resistance of the cable 11 and the inside surface of the cable pipe 15 as far as possible. The friction resistance on the inside surface of the metallic pipe 15 is relatively large unless the surface is subjected to special surface finishing in case of using the cable pipe 15 made of a metal, etc. The lubricant is, thereupon, interposed in order to decrease the friction resistance of the cable 11 and the inside surface of the pipe 15. Talc 35 is used as the lubricant. The forced feeding of the optical fiber cable 11 is facilitated by the intervention of the talc 35.
