PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of a dust seal sealing a caliper body having an electric motor and an advancing and retreating mechanism, maintain the intrusion preventing effect against moisture, dusts and pebbles into a cylinder, and also to form the protection means for the dust seal with a simple composition and a low cost. SOLUTION: The electric disk brake is provided with a caliper body 8 having the advancing and retreating mechanism advancing and retreating with a driving force of the electric motor 15 and generating the pressing force to the pressing member of the friction pads 3, 4, and brakes by slidably pressing the friction 3, 4 to the disk rotor 1 with the advancing and retreating mechanism. The space between an inner periphery of an opening part 45 of the caliper body 8 and an outer periphery of the pressing member is covered with an expansible dust seal 47. A guard member 52 covering the disk rotor 1 side of the dust seal 47 is provided on the outer periphery of the lower end of the opening part of the caliper body 8. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
