摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to heat a catalyst to an activating temperature at an early stage because combustion gas after heat exchange is supplied to the catalyst and the temperature of the combustion gas is lowered in an engine equipped with a combustion heater for heating cooling water by a heat exchanger. SOLUTION: The combustion gas which is not yet heat-exchanged by the heat exchanger in the combustion heater 1 is introduced to the catalyst 5. An exhaust valve 12 for controlling the amount of the combustion gas introduced to the catalyst is provided. The exhaust valve 12 is controlled in consideration of both a catalyst temperature and a cooling water temperature. This makes it possible to effectively use heat generated by the combustion heater 1 for both preheating and catalyst heating, and therefore heat generated by a combustion apparatus 2 can be effectively recovered activating the catalyst 5 at an early stage. As a result, the engine 6 can be started when the temperature of the catalyst 5 is in the raised state so that the comfortability of an interior and anti-fogging properties can be increased fully purifying the exhaust gas from the engine 6 immediately after the engine 6 has started.
