PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base paper sheet for making wallpaper sheets, obtained by monolithically wet-papermaking a nonwoven fabric layer for wallpaper with a backing paper layer in a step for making the backing paper sheet, without adhering a nonwoven fabric for wallpaper sheets and the backing paper sheet by using an adhesive and without using a press for the adhesion to produce a wallpaper sheet with a three dimensional structure and a high quality, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The base paper sheet for the wallpaper sheet is obtained by monolithic wet paper making of the nonwoven fabric for wallpaper with the backing paper layer, wherein the fabric contains≥20% but≤70% fusing fiber. The method for producing the base paper for the wallpaper comprises superposing a nonwoven fabric web for wallpaper with a backing paper web after forming each web at each forming part but before drying them and then drying the webs to integrate them. Thereby, the method solves former problems that, as conventional nonwoven fabric wallpaper sheets are obtained by binding the nonwoven fabric for the wallpaper with the backing paper, a process for binding is required, the adhesive is needed and so cost is increased, presswork in the binding step causes degradation of precious bulkiness of the nonwoven fabric for wallpaper, so, a wallpaper having three-dimensional appearance is hardly produced and a quality problem is caused.
