PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable resin composition low in water absorption and high in heat resistance. SOLUTION: The curable resin composition essentially contains a vinylbenzyl compound selected from the compounds described in formula (1). In formula (1), R<SB>1</SB>-R<SB>6</SB>are each hydrogen, a halogen or alkyl group having not more than four carbon atoms, 4-vinylbenzyl ether group, or 3-vinylbenzyl ether group; the total of 4-vinylbenzyl ether group and 3-vinylbenzyl ether group are not less than two; and R<SB>7</SB>and R<SB>8</SB>are each hydrogen or alkyl group having not more than four carbon atoms.
