PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper/lower displacement-measuring apparatus for obtaining an accurate measured value even in rainy weather. SOLUTION: The upper/lower displacement-measuring apparatus measures the displacement in a vertical direction of an upper body 11 and a lower body 12 that are separated up and down. When the upper and lower bodies move relatively in a horizontal direction or there is vibration, a noncontact type utilizing ultrasonics and laser beams is used. An upper protection cylinder 4 in a vertical cylindrical shape that is shorter than a minimum measuring height position Ls is fixed to the upper body 11, which furnishes a non-contact displacement sensor 1. Then, the lower end is in contact with the surface of the lower body 12, and a lower protection cylinder 5 that is shorter than the upper protection cylinder 4 is slidably fitted to the upper protection cylinder 4.
