PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a seal surface pressure at the peripheral edge parts of cylinder openings in a metal gasket installed between the cylinder block and the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This metal gasket comprises two sheets of elastic metal base plates A<SB>1</SB>and A<SB>2</SB>having beads 2 formed at the peripheral edge parts of the plurality of cylinder openings 1 and a metal sheet B arranged on the protruded part sides of the beads and so formed as to be connected to the plurality of cylinder openings 1. A fixed part formed by inserting the arm plate part 4 of the metal sheet B in water holes 5 provided in one elastic metal base plate A<SB>2</SB>and bending the arm plate part 4 is provided on the metal sheet, and opening parts 6 having a part of the water holes expanded to the portion of the other elastic metal base plate A<SB>1</SB>overlapped with the fixed part, whereby by providing the opening parts 6, the lowering of the seal surface pressure at the peripheral edge parts of the cylinder openings by the fixed part of the metal sheet can be suppressed to increase the seal surface pressure at the bead portions.
