摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To largely reduce the overall width of an engine main body in a direction traverse to a crankshaft in a V-type engine including first and second banks arranged in a V-shape in which the banks are respectively provided with valve train cam shafts which are timing-driven by the crankshaft. SOLUTION: A first timing transmission chain 23 is arranged to extend around a first driving sprocket 21 fixed to the crankshaft 6, and driven sprockets 26, 27 provided on the valve train cam shafts 11, 12 of the first bank B1. A second timing transmission chain 24 is arranged to extend around a second driving sprocket 22 fixed to a reversing gear shaft 19 reversely driven by the crankshaft 6, and driven sprockets 26, 27 provided on the valve train cam shafts 11, 12 of the second bank B2. There are provided first and second hydraulic tensioners T1, T2 for applying a predetermined tensile force to both of the timing transmission chains 23, 24 in inward directions of the first and second banks B1, B2.
